Do you charge a service or traveler’s fee?
No! Since you will be renting directly from us, the owners, there is no third party overhead or marketing to cover.
What’s included in the rental rate?
Your rental rate includes departure cleaning and taxes. During the months of March-May and September-October, pool heating is also included. The posted rate does NOT include linens (sheets and towels), but we can provide them for an additional fee.
Do you require a security deposit?
For each stay, we require a $250 refundable security deposit which is usually refunded within 14 days provided there is no damage to our home, all keys have been returned, and all rented items (if applicable) have been accounted for.
Do you rent to high school and/or college students?
We have a firm minimum rental age of 25 years old, and we do not allow house parties (e.g., groups of unrelated persons between the ages of 15-25). We also require that the person who signs the lease must be a guest at the house during the entirety of the rental. Any group of high school students must be accompanied by at least one parent or responsible adult who signs the lease and stays with the group during the rental period.
We want to rent for a weekend or for something less than 7 nights. Will you do that?
Because we only offer weekly, Saturday – Saturday rentals, we require a 7-night minimum stay. If you stay for less than a week, you still will be charged for the entire week. Sometimes in the off-season, we allow arrivals/departures on days other than Saturday, but this is on an “as available” basis.
Do you offer monthly rentals?
We are open to monthly rentals during the months of November – February. Please inquire!
Are your homes available year-round?
Yes! While our homes remain booked steadily during the summer months, many people find that Spring, Autumn and even Winter are great times to rent a beach home. Surfside Beach’s mild year-round temperatures allow you to enjoy local activities, leisurely beach strolls, and our heated pools during most weeks in the off-season. We often have guests book our homes during the holidays or in the off-season so they can avoid the crowds and take advantage of local restaurants and stores that offer seasonal specials. You might find that the off-season becomes your favorite time to visit the beach and to schedule a family get-together!
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel a confirmed reservation more than 60 days prior to your arrival, all prepaid monies will be refunded less a $250.00 cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 60 days of the arrival date forfeit all advance rent paid unless the property rebooks for your same dates and rates. In this case, your advance rent will be refunded less a $250 cancellation fee.
No refunds are given for shortened stays.
Do we need to sign a rental agreement?
Yes to ensure we agree on the terms and conditions of the rental. You may view a sample rental agreement here; your agreement will be customized based on the home you choose to rent and the terms to which we agree.
Do you provide travel insurance?
We do not provide travel insurance, but we can recommend several companies which offer competitive rates and packages. To protect your vacation investment, we strongly recommend you consider travel insurance!
What are your payment terms?
In general, within 7 days of making a reservation, you must submit an initial payment equal to 50% of the total rental rate. The balance of rent plus the refundable security deposit will be due 30 days prior to your arrival.
If your arrival date is within 45 days of the reservation date, full payment of the total rent rate plus the refundable security deposit is due within one week. If you are making a reservation more than 6 months in advance, we can work with you on payment arrangements.
How do I make the reservation and pay you?
If you decide you’d like to rent one of our homes, call us at 704.978.7441 or click the “Book Now” button for the home you wish to reserve. We’ll prepare the rental contract and allow you 7 days to return a signed copy and make your initial payment. We accept personal checks, bank-issued cashier’s checks/money orders, and credit cards. When you make your reservation, you can let us know your preferred form of payment.
Any reservation made within 45 days of the arrival date must be paid in full at the time the reservation is made. This includes the refundable security deposit. Please note we only accept checks and money orders from national/state banks or federally chartered credit unions.
Do you have parking onsite?
Since our homes are raised, each has parking underneath for several cars. In addition, we have parking pads at Abe’s Corner, Annie’s Getaway and Taylor Made II to accommodate at least two more vehicles. Please only park in the designated areas; parking is not allowed on the grass.
What do you provide in terms of linens, kitchen appliances, etc.?
For each bed, we provide pillows, a mattress pad, a blanket, and a bed covering (quilt or comforter). We also provide a bath mat for each bathroom. We do not provide linens for the bed or bathroom; however you may rent linens for a very reasonable rate.
In addition, we provide a fully equipped kitchen including a ceramic-top electric range, full-size refrigerator with built-in icemaker, built-in microwave oven, dishware, silverware, utensils, and the following small appliances: 8-12 cup automatic coffeemaker, 4-slice toaster, Crockpot, blender, hand-held mixer and hand-held can opener. Our homes also include an HE washing machine, clothes dryer, vacuum, broom and dustpan, iron and ironing board.
Each house has a park-style charcoal grill; however, we do not provide charcoal, lighter fluid or a lighter. Around each pool you’ll find lounge chairs and tables, but we do not provide items for the beach such as beach chairs, umbrellas, toys, etc. We also do not have items like pack-n-plays, highchairs or cribs. If you need these items, we will be happy to provide the names of local companies which rent them.
Our Welcome Packet will include a more detailed list of what we provide, as well as what we recommend you bring with you or purchase shortly after you arrive.
Are your pools heated?
During the warmer months, the sun keeps our pools at a very comfortable temperature. In the off-season (generally March – May and September – October), we do provide pool heating. The pool heater will be turned on several days in advance of your arrival. Typically, it takes 24 hours to reach the optimal temperature of 84-86°F, but ambient air temperature can impact that.
Please note that the pool heater will not operate if the air temperature surrounding the heat pump drops below 55°F. For this reason, our pools usually are not heated November – February. The system will automatically turn itself on and off based on the surrounding air temperature. This is a design feature of the heating unit and cannot be altered.
We have a professional pool technician who will service the pool several times a week. If you have any concerns about the pool heater and its operation, please contact us or feel free to ask the technician on one of his visits during your stay.
What is a salt-chlorinated pool?
We are pleased to provide you with a salt-chlorinated pool at Taylor Made II and The Flamingo. There are many advantages to a salt-chlorinated pool but chiefly because chlorine levels are lower, swimmers’ eyes won’t be as red and itchy, bathing suits won’t bleach out and your skin won’t feel as dried out. But don’t worry, the pool is just as clean as a chemical chlorinated-one! Rather than externally adding chlorine to the pool, it is created internally from the chemical electrolysis which occurs within the salt water chlorinator.
How close are your homes to the beach?
If you’re staying at either The Flamingo or Abe’s Corner, the beach is literally across the street! The beach access for Annie’s Getaway and Taylor Made II is a short walk (less than 200 steps).
What is there to do in Surfside Beach?
Surfside Beach offers virtually everything you could want to do on a beach vacation. For some ideas, check out our Explore Surfside Beach page.
Of course, you have access to the beach and your private pool at each of our homes. If you’re looking for more adventure, you’ll find nearby water parks, go karts, miniature golf courses, public and private golf courses, biking and hiking trails at several area state parks, water sports activities, bowling, movie theaters, multiple shopping centers, athletic fields, and many wonderful local and chain restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Surfside Beach also has many community parks and playgrounds within easy walking distance of our homes.
Hungry for something in particular? Several grocery stores and local fish markets serve Surfside Beach, plus we have Wal-Mart and Target within a short drive of each home. You’ll also find several restaurants within walking distance of each of our homes, including dining on the Surfside Beach Pier. Murrells Inlet with its wealth of seafood restaurants is just 10 minutes south, and Myrtle Beach proper lies only 10 minutes north. If you’re willing to drive a little longer, world-renowned Calabash-style fried seafood restaurants can be found one hour north at Calabash, NC.
